History of our Award winning Industry Day:

The school-wide renowned Alpha Kappa Psi Industry Day began in 2006 in attempt to foster relations between the professional students and USC students particularly in the field of business and accounting.  Since then Industry Day has grown to encompass over 25 companies in attendance as well as approximately 230 students throughout the day. an extremely success event.  Members of Alpha Kappa Psi organized an extremely successful Industry Day. It is held in the Marshall School Breezeway and is sponsored by the Marshall School of Business. The students found the event to be extremely crucial in networking and finalizing career plans. Certain companies commented that they found this Industry Day to be the most beneficial recruiting event they had participated in all years, as it was a unique opportunity to have access to a demographic composed mainly of business students. The event provided companies the opportunity to recruit students from one of the top business schools and students the opportunity to network with top companies in their respective fields.

Visiting Warren Buffett

Members of the Alpha Kappa Psi chapter at USC arranged a trip to visit Warren Buffet in Omaha, Nebraska. Opening the invitation to other Marshall Business School students, a total of 27 undergraduate and 10 MBA students attended the meeting from January 19, 2007 to January 21, 2007. "He was really wonderful, an energetic, warm and charismatic man with a great laugh who seemed very interested in the students. And I think the students got a good look not only at a great investor’s philosophies but also how he is as a person, and a remarkable person at that. It was a great trip," said Guillermina Molina, Marshall’s director of undergraduate student services who accompanied the students. On the evening of January 19, students met Warren Buffet over cocktails with casual conversation. The following day, Mr. Buffet hosted a 90 minute question and answer session at his corporate office before having lunch with the students. "He’s very humble and funny," said Alfonso Guzman, then president of Alpha Kappa Psi. "He was happy to take pictures with us and give us advice. The whole experience was touching and really inspiring. I’ll never forget it." Alpha Kappa Psi will be visiting Warren Buffet again in 2009.

Leadership Institute

During in the Spring 2007 semester, the Alpha Zeta chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi hosted its first “Leadership Institute.” Leadership Institute was an innovative event that afforded actives and pledges of all surrounding chapters the opportunity to gain insight and knowledge from various industry leaders and to develop professionally. The Alpha Zeta chapter was fortunate enough to host the Vice President of the National Fraternity, Mr. Alexander Sultan, who presented an extremely insightful keynote speech on building one’s own “brand”. In addition to the keynote address, there were various workshops presented by JP Morgan and the Strategic Financial Group of Northwestern Mutual. A career panel advised on pertinent undergraduate career matters Cornerstone Research, Mr. Alexander Sultan, Philip Morris USA and Target were all kind enough to sit on this panel. All attendees thoroughly enjoyed the event and found it to be extremely beneficial in their personal and professional development. The chapter hopes to continue the Leadership Institute in its upcoming semesters.

Faculty and Parents Dinner

We regularly host a faculty dinner event to honor the faculty of USC for all their work for the student body. This event is held every semester with a variety of Professors from different fields of instruction as our guests. Professors are introduced with an informal reception, followed by a formal dinner. The evening ends with a presentation given by two of the executive board members, providing professors with insight into what Alpha Kappa Psi has achieved as an organization and how we plan to continue to establish ourselves as the premier business fraternity and student organization. We recently began to include parents at our event, giving parents an opportunity to interact with faculty as USC. It has been extremely successful and are honored to continue hosting those that provide such a positive impact on our development.
